I am happy to be a part of our team – Oleksiy KASYANOV

Lutsk, 5 July. Press Conference. European Combined Events Team Championships Super League 2019

Oleksiy KASYANOV (UKR), Decathlon World Championships Bronze Medalist 2009, Heptathlon World Indoor Championships Silver Medalist (2012, 2016), Heptathlon European Indoor Championships Silver Medalist 2009

“While planning this year we expected to approach the Championships at the top of performance. Unfortunately, my wife Anna Kasyanova had an injury, so I’ll complete hard enough for two. We are totally sports-oriented family. We always help each other and thoroughly enjoy being parents to our little daughter Sasha. Anna coaches me, I coach Anna, and Sasha coaches both of us. There are no proper words to describe being a parent and the way every day is full of joy, and fatigue, and laugh… It brought plenty of emotions into our lives.

An unspoken rule of European Combined Events Team Championships says the first attempt goes to the team, and two other attempts go to you. That kind of competitions requires reliable performance with high scores.

Completing in Lutsk, our team has an advantage over the rivals a bit. We did not spend much time to get here and arrived not so tired. Besides, we’ve got a great team work. Everyone is intended to high results. Feeling that kind of sharing and caring inside the team, I am happy to be a part of it.

It’s sad to admit but the next year is probable to become the last one in my career. I’ve put so much time and efforts into athletics. While being out last year I felt how much I missed the sports. That’s why now I am completely positive about the fact that my future life will be connected with athletics. It may be coaching actually even if I am going to run some business at the same time or deal with anything else. It’s really sad, but we must accept that life in sports won’t last forever”.
